347 is a heat resistant metal, in contrast to several stainless steel alloys grades. Columbium and tantalum have been added to the chemical composition of 347 Stainless Steel Seamless Tubes in order to stabilise the alloy. Tantalum and columbium are both classified as refractory metals. Refractory metals are defined as substances with great resistance to heat and wear. As a result, WERKSTOFF NR.1.4550 Heat exchanger Tube is frequently used in applications that need high temperatures. Many ASTM A213 TP 347 Instrumentation Tubes are used in this application because heat exchangers produce a lot of heat during their operations.
In addition, the system becomes worn out when heat and high pressure are present. These applications benefit from the usage of columbium and tantalum stabilised alloys, such as the 347 Stainless Steel Tube. Alloy 347 not only has excellent heat resistance characteristics, but it also has the capacity to withstand intergranular corrosion. Problematic chromium carbides can form at temperatures between 800°F and 1500°F. Many alloys see a deterioration in their mechanical characteristics in this temperature range. Despite being exposed to temperatures as high as 1500°F, the mechanical qualities of the SS 347 Cold Rolled Coiled Tubing do not degrade.
However, the higher creep strength and high stress rupture properties of ASTM A249 TP 347H Welded Tube, both of which are much higher than grades 304 and 304L, are the more prominent characteristics. Because grade 304L is more prone to intergranular corrosion, it is frequently substituted for the stronger and more resilient UNS S34700 U Tube. The alloy's good low temperature toughness is a quality that it shares with its austenitic stainless steel counterpart.
