The nickel-based alloy 400 is noted for having high resistance to maritime environments. As a result, the manufacturers of monel 400 tubes advise utilising this alloy in applications that include both marine engineering and coastal conditions. Seawater that vaporises in coastal areas frequently lands on buildings that are close to the water. This vapour contains very small amounts of salt, which over time accumulates to form a deposition and quickly corrodes the base metal.

Additionally helpful in settings that release steam when exposed to high temperatures are alloy 400 ERW tubes. The ASTM B163 monel 400 seamless tube is able to withstand temperatures of up to 1000° F because of the inclusion of 67 percent nickel to its alloy. While the tensile strength of ASTM B730 UNS N04400 Welded Tubing is between low and moderate in an annealed condition, this feature might be improved by using different tempers. As an illustration, providing Monel 400 Tube in an as rolled condition improves its tensile strength characteristics. Cold working is a method that could be used to harden monel alloy 400 high tolerance tube.

Heat treatments cannot be used to harden the Monel 400 Decorative Tube since the metal is a solid solution. Although copper gives the material good resistance to the maritime environment, it also renders din 2.4360 High Pressure Tube susceptible to ammonia systems and nitric acid solutions.
