Alloy 316, sometimes known as marine grade stainless steel, has high resistance to salt solutions. However, the alloy's slightly increased carbon content may make it more prone to intergranular corrosion. To specifically obtain ASME SA 249 TP316L Stainless Steel Welded Tubing material, the carbon content of grade 316 has been altered. Comparable to its predecessor, this substance has similar qualities.
However, the lack of carbon atoms in its chemistry causes the yield strength qualities to disappear. However, by adding some nitrogen to the alloy of ASME SA249 316L Stainless Steel Tubing, its yield strength may be recovered. Austenitic stainless steel's functioning is enhanced by nitrogen addition. Nitrogen serves as an austenite stabilising agent in the case of molybdenum-bearing A249 TP 316L Welded straight and U bend tubes.
With nitrogen added, the yield strength characteristics of the astm a249 tp316l tube have significantly improved. Furthermore, compared to either austenitic stainless steel grade 304 or grade 304L, the ASTM A249 316L ERW Tubes have a significantly superior pitting resistance. Additionally, the alloy has excellent corrosion resistance, particularly when the ASME SA 249 TP 316L Tubing has been exposed to environments that encourage corrosion by oxidation. The ASTM A249 TP316L Tube is employed outside of the marine industry, particularly in freshwater reserves where there is a significant concentration of chloride ions.
