One group of metals whose hardness and mechanical strength can be improved by the application of various heat treatment techniques is PH or precipitation hardening stainless steel alloys. Although the alloy's name, 17-4 ph round bar, implies that it has 17 percent chromium and 4 percent nickel, the chemistry also contains another principal alloyant, giving it the PH grade designation.
Therefore, 3 to 5 percent nickel, 15 to 17.5 percent chromium, and 3 to 5 percent copper make up the chemical makeup of round 17-4 ph stainless steel rods. The 17-4 ph stainless steel round bar is viewed as a cost-effective alloy when compared to a number of high nickel alloys and non-ferrous alloys. Therefore, industries like the petroleum and chemical industries are suitable for using this stainless steel alloy. These industries need alloys that can perform effectively at temperatures up to 600 °F, such the AMS 5643 Steel 17-4 PH Bright Bar. The Stainless Steel 13-8 Mo Flat Bar nevertheless demonstrates characteristics like high strength, high hardness, and/or corrosion resistance even under these circumstances.
Although stainless steel grades like alloy 304 have been used as comparisons for the SS 17-4 PH Cold Finished Bars' corrosion resistant qualities. In particular, grade 630 stainless steel bar has replaced the formerly used chromium stainless steels in sectors including food, dairy, processing, petrochemicals, petroleum, and the paper industry since it is so much more affordable.
